Throughout the twentieth century the army used posters to attract recruits into the Scottish regiments.  This faithful reproduction of a recruiting poster for the Gordon Highlanders c.1960 uses modern design and print techniques to create striking colourful images for display in public places. The caption “a life of adventure with the men of the north-east” espouses the benefits of army life, such as world travel and organised sport, backed up the main theme - the glamour and patriotic appeal of the traditional Scottish military image.
