Black Watch Pipe Major hand painted 8" scale resin figurine on wooden presentation base.
The Black Watch, or in Gaelic, 'Am Freiceadan Dubh' is the oldest and most senior of the highland regiments drawing its recruits from Fife and Tayside. The Black Watch Regiment can trace its origins back to 1725 when, as a band of loosely associated independant companies under their own cheftains, the Clansmen were recruited to patrol or 'watch' over the lands. Since then the battle honours collected depict a regiment on almost constant deployment in the most dangerous and inhospitable parts of the world. To denote 'Royal' status, bestowed in 1758, the Black Watch regimental pipers wear 'Royal Stewart' rather than the dark 'Government' tartan.
An ideal gift for service and ex members of the regiment or for christmas, anniversarys, fathers day, birthdays and commemorations.
