Mary, Queen of Scots (1542–87) was one of the most famous and enigmatic figures in Scottish history whose legacy helped to shape the future of the monarchy in Britain.
To some, she was the wronged monarch, betrayed by the very people she trusted. To others she was little short of a murderer. Whichever view you take, there can be no doubt that Mary haunts our imaginations to this day.
This pretty purse is inspired by a coin from our collection; A gold crown, struck in Edinburgh between 1542 - 1552, bearing the image of Mary Queen of Scots.
