Colouring the Nation: The Turkey Red Printed Cotton Industry in Scotland c.1840-1940 £17.99

Description

The Museums’ Turkey Red Collection (from textile manufacturers in the Vale of Leven, Dunbartonshire) contains 200 pattern books and around 40,000 samples. These were photographed for the Colouring the Nation project which challenges the perception that Scotland’s industrial past was dominated by heavy industry.

The book has chapters on the manufacturers and designers, the processes involved and the vibrant patterns.
