Poppy Brooch

Poppy Brooch $12.47

Description

This beautifully crafted Poppy features beadwork and metallic thread, hand embroidered in India by local artists

The Poppy became a symbol of remembrance after the first world war, when American Academic Moina Michael, inspired by the poem "In Flanders Field" by Lt. Col. John McCrae, campaigned and persuaded Earl Haig to adopt the Poppy as the emblem for the Royal British Legion. 100 years on, the poppy remains a humble, poignant symbol of Remembrance and hope.
