This beautifully crafted Thistle decoration is made from felt, featuring beadwork and metallic thread, hand embroidered in India by local artists.
The prickly purple thistle was adopted as the Emblem of Scotland during the rein of Alexander III (1249 -1286). Legend has it a sleeping party of Scots warriors were saved from ambush by an invading Norse army when one of the enemies trod on the spiky plant. His anguished cry roused the slumbering warriors who duly vanquished the invader and adopted the thistle as their national symbol.
Perfect for decorating around the home, or for adding a Scottish twist to your Christmas Tree.
