From Kelso to Kalamazoo: The Life and Times of George Taylor, 1803-1891
Description
George Taylor was the son of a Border shepherd. In his fifties, now a horticulturalist, he moved his family from Kelso to Kalamazoo, Michigan. This book was produced from the manuscript held by George Taylor’s descendants for over a hundred years. It is a rare testament to the realities of emigration from the lowlands of Scotland to the USA.
Margaret Jeary lives in the Scottish Borders and lectures locally on George Taylor and his times. Mark Mulhern is a Researcher in the European Ethnological Research Centre, part of the School of Scottish Studies, Edinburgh. This Flashbacks title was published for National Museums Scotland by NMS Enterprises Ltd – Publishing with the European Ethnological Research Centre.
